About

I am an established ceramic artist working in Devon. I initially studied at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in the 70’s and have shown my work at home and abroad for many years. I sell my work mostly through galleries in the UK or directly from my own studio.

I make my ceramics from a white earthenware clay. I then use underglaze colours which I hand paint onto each piece in order to build up subtle layers of colour. After an initial “biscuit” firing a transparent glaze is applied prior a second firing. I discovered that by using underglaze colours I could achieve a wonderful range of vibrant and intense effects once the surface is brought to life with a soft transparent glaze.
